Alma Transit Center

The Alma Transportation Center, or ATC, is a public transportation system that provides service to the City of Alma and other areas within Gratiot County. The ATC is a department of the City of Alma and has been in existence for over 40 years. In 2016 we provided 53,456 rides, which is an increase of nearly 24% over the previous two years.

ATC services are funded through State and Federal Grants, City of Alma millage, as well as farebox and contractual services with Gratiot Integrated Health Services, City of St. Louis, Pine River Township, Village of Breckenridge, and Gratiot County. Although the ATC has many characteristics of a taxi service, we are a bus service driven by schedules that are based on a priority riding system. Our fare structure reflects that fact.

The ATC is a demand response, curb to curb service that works on a Priority System. Demand-Response Service works in time ranges by grouping rides within the same area utilizing one vehicle. Time calls are booked on a first-call, first-served basis, and time slots do become filled. As our ridership has grown it is extremely helpful if you request your trip 24 hours in advance. Public transportation cannot be based on the convenience of every rider. Reservations can be made up to 30 days in advance and must be made a minimum of one hour prior to your desired pickup time.
